How We Care For Long-Term Residents at Avon Place
November 3, 2023
Happy November, and happy National Long-Term Care Awareness Month! We are so grateful to be able to care for each one of our wonderful long-term residents. This month, we celebrate our residents who chose our community as their home, and our staff, who empower and encourage our residents on a daily basis.
Every long-term resident deserves quality care and amenities. At Avon Place, our hard-working STNAs, Nurses, and Physical and Occupational Therapists assist residents with activities of daily living. These can include dressing, eating, transferring, managing finances, housekeeping, managing medications, and much more. Our Therapy Team provides education and training for our residents to become stronger and more confident with activities such as walking, climbing stairs, or adapting to any equipment they may need. Our Social Services Department ensures smooth transitions within the facility, including discharge planning, care conferences, and help with adjustment. These services allow our residents to remain comfortable and stress-free.
Our Activities Department provides our residents with exciting things to do every day. This includes group gatherings such as jewelry making, Bingo, trivia, walking club, crafts, music, and snacks. Every week we have entertainment such as music performances for our residents to sing along to – and we love to hear it! Activities are a great way to build relationships in our community and learn more about each other. We also have a great Dietary Team that strives to make meals and snacks that are not only delicious but fun to try. This fall, we have had snack stations such as a caramel apple bar, apple cider floats, donuts and beverages, and fried Oreos! We are so thankful for our Dietician, Dietary Managers, and Aides for providing our residents with nutritious food and resident-chosen meals.
Cleanliness is a large part of care and we strive to provide our residents with access to a beautiful facility. Our Housekeeping and Maintenance Team ensures a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents, with community area and room cleanings daily. We also recognize our business office, for assisting our residents with questions and concerns with insurance. By giving support, assurance, and education, an otherwise stressful, new situation becomes easier. Managing finances gets tougher for older adults and we appreciate everything our business office does for our residents.
And finally, thank you to all of our residents. We truly adore our residents and enjoy learning about their lives, interests, and hobbies. We look forward to seeing their faces every day and are proud of the community we have built. Thank you for choosing Avon Place! Happy Long-Term Care Awareness Month!
